The Back Story

The idea for Teddy Ireland was inspired by our little dog called Mollie. Mollie was our beloved little Westie. She was our little darling and even though she was diabetic she lived to the grand old age of 16 years

Mollie was the politest, trusting, intelligent, beautiful and fun-loving bundle of joy you could ever ask for.

One day as Mollie cuddled up, all tuckered out from running around, we said she was a tired little teddy bear.

We had always said that if ever a Teddy Bear was to come to life, Mollie was exactly what anyone would want.

She was the best Teddy Bear in Ireland - in fact as Mollie had travelled to all of the 32 counties of IRELAND, she was the best-travelled Teddy bear in Ireland. So she is Teddy Ireland!

This was a light bulb moment for us, as we knew from childhood that the Island of Ireland was perceived as the shape of a Teddy Bear so we began creating the Teddy Ireland character based on that perception and on the likeness of our little dog and so the loveable character, Teddy Ireland is here for all to see.

So, the memory of our little darling Mollie now lives on in the bundle of joy that is Teddy Ireland.
